Back to School 2014- The picture that flopped

After the wild success of our 2013 back to school picture, people asked me all the time what I was going to do for the next year. There wasn’t a plan that I could think of that would be better, more entertaining, more widely loved than that jump that really just was an accident. I decided to have the boys hoist their sister into their new school since all 3 would finally be at the same school for the first time ever!

These sweet kids were going into 4 year old preschool, 1st grade and 3rd grade. And the only problem here is that little sisters don’t want to be stiff like a board and pretend to be thrown. And big brothers (while thinking they are “grown” at 6 and 8 years old) cannot behave on command and toss her like I intended. So, this picture flopped- literally and metaphorically- while they dropped their sister several times. 😂

What we learned this year was that 1) this needs to be a production that needs to happen before the actual first day of school, 2) there needs to be a plan with a mom involved in the shot and 3) the boys should be encouraged to throw their sister. They did that enough on their own. 😉
